Weather: chance of showers, thunderstorm but hot, sunny weekend beckons

Sticky summer has settled in as we head into Canada Day.

It’s hot and humid with a chance of showers and the risk of a thunderstorm but looking ahead there’s a sunny, dry July weekend in the forecast.

For Tuesday, expect mixed skies, a 30 per cent chance of showers in the afternoon and early evening and a high of 28 C that feels like 33, Environment Canada predicts. The UV index is 8 or very high.

Overnight, expect partly cloudy skies and a low of 17 C.

More mixed skies are on tap for Canada Day Wednesday with a 30 per cent chance of showers in the afternoon and the risk of a thunderstorm, a high of 30 C and humidex of 37. The UV index is again 8 or very high.

Skies clear Wednesday night with a low of 20 C.

Thursday is cloudy with a high of 30 C. There’s a 40 per cent chance of showers overnight and a low of 19 C.

Friday’s forecast features mixed skies, a 40 per cent chance of showers and high of 30 C. There’s a 30 per cent chance of showers overnight and low of 17 C.

Saturday and Sunday are both sunny with highs of 31 C and 30 C respectively and clear nights dipping to 17 C and 19 C.
